ICPA EDMONTON CHINESE OPERA GROUP

ABOUT US

MANDATE:

The Institute of Cultural Performing Arts (ICPA) was established in Alberta on November 8, 2005.  ICPA is a unique non-profit society dedicated to educating the Edmonton community about traditional Chinese performances.  These performances entail Chinese Operas which depict major historical figures and events, as well as provide education with regards to traditional Chinese musical instruments and forms of martial arts.  ICPA has been established since November 8, 2005 and since then has participated in a number of fund raising activities to generate support for this rare art form.  Beginning June of 2007, ICPA commenced with an initiative to accept enrollment of young children from age 5 to 25 who are interested in learning more about Chinese opera performances.  This initiative is free of charge to the students and provides them with an opportunity to learn more about Chinese history, music, dance, martial arts as well as various aspects to stage productions. As the saying goes, “it takes a village to raise a child.”  At ICPA we believe that our contribution to the community involves the enrichment of the future generation through mental and cultural education, as well as physical health and well being.
